Good morning!
It’s Thanksgiving week, also known as my favorite holiday. Is there anything better than cooking more food than you need and sharing it with the people you love most? NO.
It’s the BEST.
On our menu this year is roasted brussels sprouts, monkey bread (a tradition that’s insanely good), mac and cheese, sweet potato casserole, stuffing, kale salad with pecans and cranberries, turkey, orange cranberry sauce, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie, apple pie, and chocolate silk pie.
I can’t wait!
Momma Coale drove up to Chicago to pick me up yesterday afternoon and we drove home. It feels so, so good to be home in Indy with my fam.
Backing up to Friday, I went to see the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall with friends from school and then we stuffed ourselves silly at Peacefoods Cafe afterward. This was probably one of the best meals I’ve eaten in NYC. We orderd chickpea fries to start and then the three of us split four entrees- the kale salad, roasted squash with cauliflower + mushroom gravy with mashed potatoes, roasted potato pizza and macho nachos. We managed to eat most of that and then we rounded out dinner with a slice of carrot cake, vanilla cake and cheesecake and ate all but about a fourth of the dessert.
So much awesomeness.
And then I caught a 7am flight to Chicago on Saturday morning to visit my college friends!
We started the day with an early lunch somewhere downtown (I forgot the name!) where we ordered pizza + wine and the server was so generous and brought out complimentary gelato and a bottle of red wine that was new to the menu. So nice! We picked up another bottle of wine and spent the afternoon at Bottles and Bottega painting masterpieces.
We sold them for $500 a pop.
I kid. I kid.
Kind of.
We went back to Sam’s apartment, ate snacks and chatted and then headed to a spanish restaurnant for sangria and tapas. We wrapped up the night at a bar where more friends joined us to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Happy birthday Papadop!
We stayed out till 3am and by that time I had been up for almost 24 hours and it was time to go home. How I did late nights like this all the time in college I have no idea.
It’s always so fun to see everyone and always makes me wish I lived closer to my college friends and got to see them more often!
This morning we work up late, ate Chipotle around 11 and then I headed back to Indy.
And now my body is craving all the vegetables and no more booze.
Have a fabulous Monday!
