Good morning and welcome to friday!
How has your week been? Are you more than ready for the weekend?
I’m kind of not. Only because when you’re on vacation I don’t think you ever really care what day it is and because I have five days left until school starts…..and I’m in North Carolina and nowhere near NYC. And that only means one thing….a whole lot has to happen between now and May 28th.
And I’m getting nervous for some reason. I was really excited [and still am!] but I have all these mixed feelings of sadness, stress, excitement, fear, anxiousness, and happiness among many more.
I guess you could say I’m feeling all the feelings.
So that’s where I’m at. Still here at the Outer Banks soaking up all the sunshine I possibly can, laying on the beach for as long as I possibly can, and sleeping as much as I possibly can. Lots of afternoon naps over here and it’s glorious.
Clare always does a Five Things Friday post so I thought it would be fun to do something similar. Head on over to her blog to see lots of FTF linkups!
Five things I ate this week:
homemade chipotle burrito bowls with black beans, brown rice, sautéed peppers and onions, tomatoes, salsa and lots of guac + some chips straight from the bag- I was on cooking duty so I made these for dinner on Wednesday and they were good, but Chipotle reigns supreme, always.
lots of ice-cream because you can’t be at the beach and not eat ice cream- one night Whit’s sister hand delivered these hurricanes [aka blizzards] to us on the couch that were vanilla frozen custard + cookie dough + reese cups and I went into a custard coma afterward and then last night we hit up a local fro-yo shop that had amazing flavors! I’m not a huge fro-yo fan because it usually tastes all fake and chemically to me, but this was good!
blackened wahoo over mashed potatoes with arugula salad last night for dinner, so fresh and so good.
bowls of oatmeal topped with fruit and peanut butter every morning this week, always a winner.
strawberry daiquiris Whit’s mom makes when we get home from the beach, I could do happy hour every day with these involved.
Five workouts this week:
4 mile run on the beach with Whit on Monday
5 mile walk/run on Tuesday with myself
75 minute Dave Farmer yoga podcast on Wednesday
side note: I was just as sore after doing this podcast [the one from Nov 27, 2011] as I am after a 45 minute kettlebell class, if you haven’t tried Dave and you love yoga and you love free yoga, you totally should!
3 mile interval run + 30 minute strength circuit with Whit and Caitlin on Thursday
Today might be a long walk + yoga to stretch out my legs depending on how I’m feeling!

Five things making me happy:
This week. I can’t even put into words how grateful I am for Whitney’s family inviting me on this trip. I can’t think of a better way to spend the week before I move and start the madness that is this program.
My beautiful [and insanely witty] friend Brett had her baby girl last night in 70 minutes from start to finish! Her name is Owen Elizabeth Baker and I can’t stop gushing at how precious she is.
My momma choosing to retire from teaching after this year! This lady has been teaching for 35+ years and I’m SO happy she decided this year was her last. After raising 5 kids as a single momma, she’s deserved retirement 20 years ago.
Afternoon naps.
