Good morning and welcome to Monday!
It was an absolutely gorgeous weekend, all I wanted to do is spend every waking second of every day outside in the sunshine. Ahhhh, it feels so good.
We walked A LOT [best exercise ever], went to Monticello, lunched in the sunshine, went to the farmer’s market, and ate lots of yumminess. I was well fed for sure.
Citzen’s Burger on Friday night where my mom and I split the beet salad which is THE best salad I’ve ever had, a bold but true statement, and sweet potato fries…again best EVER, and a simple burger with lettuce, tomato and and pickle. The salad has loads of candied walnuts, blueberries, applies, goat cheese, and balsamic vinaigrette and the sweet potato fries are thick enough where they are still potato-y but also crispy on the outside, so so good. Plus everything is local from their beef to their chicken to their buns. Citzens, I like you.
We ate egg bagel sandwiches at the market and later meandered to the Greenie’s tent for veggie collard wraps. And we ate Great Harvest salad’s in the sunshine too. Twas a delicious weekend!
In addition to stuffing my face with all kinds of goodness, I got my first Stitchfix last week!
I have seen Stitchfix all around for a year or so now and was actually first introduced to it at the Influence Conference back in 2012 but I figured I did not need clothes coming straight to my door. Sounds lovely, but my wallet would not like me. But after a year or so of contemplating, I took the plunge! And woah baby, am I so glad I did.
Here’s the deets.
Every month [or whenever, really- you pick the shipments] Stitchfix sends you a fun box of clothes based on your personal style preferences and body type. When you get your box, you try on the clothes and take shameless selfies in your body length mirror. You can pair the pieces with things you already have and your personal stylist sends you recommendations of how to style each piece too! Then, you keep what you love and you send the rest of back with a pre-paid shipping label that Stitchfix sends you and you only get charged for the clothes you keep!
When you sign up, you fill out a very comprehensive style questionnaire that includes questions ranging from you height and jean size to how you like your clothes to fit to outfit ratings. From the questionnaire I learned that I tend towards the “preppy” side with some “classic” mixed in too. And I’m a sucker for comfy jeans and cute, flowy tops!
So you’re wondering…what’s this gonna cost me lady?
Everytime you schedule a “fix” its’ $20. BUT, this $20 will go towards any item in the box they send you so you never “lose” money as long as you keep at least one item. So if you adored a fabulous top they sent you that was $45, then if you decided to keep it you would only pay $25. AND if you decide to keep the whole box, they’ll give you 25% off your entire order!
So, here’s my box!
When you order you can ask them to include specific things, but since it was my first time I wanted them to surprise me!
I love that you have a personal stylist that is picking out clothes that fit YOUR body. And they include a styling card for each piece so you have ideas on how to wear it! So first up was a pair or yellow skinnies. When I first saw them though I wasn’t too sure. Colored, skin tight pants don’t look great on me, I’m curvier on the bottom and let’s be honest, this color ain’t hiding anything on ya back side.
I paired them with a casual sweater and scarf that I would wear to class or grocery shopping or something. I wasn’t loving them, they were super comfy and soft but the color and fit just wasn’t flattering.
Next up was a chambray top. This top is right up my alley and the fabric was just fabulous. It wasn’t denim, but it was something super soft yet the fabric was really high quality. I paired it with one of my spring scares. I LOVED this shirt but I have something very similar in my closet so I knew I couldn’t justify the price for it.
Next up was a fun striped henley blouse. I loved the lightness of this and the funky print! It was flowy and would be perfect for the spring and into summer. I paired it was some dark denim jeans and a necklace from my own closet. Overall, I loved this top and have nothing like this in my closet.
The next thing I tried on was this blue, embroidered tank. I loved the delicate lace and pretty color, but I wasn’t in love with it. It really needed a bold necklace, but didn’t have one that I liked.
