The weekend is here. Happy Friday guys!
I hope you’ve had an awesome week and if it’s been a little crazytown, I totally get it, and I hope you find rest this weekend.
Nick and I are hosting a dinner party tonight and then the rest of the weekend will be a combination of dinners out + drinks with friends and also getting some school work + Nutshell things done before next week. Church on Sunday and then hopefully some grocery shopping and cooking! What’s on tap for your weekend?
This week we’re talking about metabolism myths. Does metabolism slow as we age? And does everything you eat after 7pm turn to fat? And then lastly, we’re talking about morning routines.
Cheers!

Thanks for that video Robyn – it was very helpful.
I am always aware of needing to be more mindful/not distracted while I eat (if alone, I often read blogs while I eat – which I know is an escape and prevents me from being ‘in my body’ while I eat) and then I feel guilty about it. Do you ever do this? Any tips on how to change this habit?
Hope your weekend is wonderful 🙂

I can very easily find myself multitasking while eating and I hate it because I almost “forget” that I ate if that makes sense? And so I end up super snacky because I didn’t sit down and just eat lunch and enjoy it. Literally shutting off electronics and eating at the kitchen table or I’m often outside in a park really helps. Hope that helps!
Hope you’re having a wonderful week 🙂

Thank you so much for sharing this information about metabolism and eating at night. I know there are a lot of rumors swirling around about these two topics, so it’s great to get some clarity from you on what is fact and what is myth. Have a fabulous weekend girl!

Thanks for taking the time to clear up some of these myths, Robyn. I know that I used to go to bed absolutely starving and thinking only about breakfast, and I somehow saw that as a good sign. In retrospect, that was completely ridiculous and clearly damaging to my body. I’m so glad that the blogging world has your good sense and practical advice 🙂

It was fun to hear your raw reflections on developing a new morning routine. I continually re-evaluate my morning routine, too, and have been enjoying the opportunity to construct a new one for this new season.
I remember reading in one of your posts, before you moved to NYC, that you were nervous about the imminent challenge of adjusting to a strict student budget after you quit your job and became a full-time student. In contrast to that fear, you must have been relieved when you realized that you could continue working nearly full-time to heavily supplement your student budget, thus increasing your income and avoiding stress. It certainly seems like you’re living the good life, unshackled by a budget, in NYC. It’s so cool that you figured out a way to remain a working woman while being a student! 🙂

pushing through hunger only leads to mental/physical damage- I’m so glad to hear you are out of that place 🙂
hope you’re having a wonderful weekend erin!

I <3 this. And when you said 125% false, that made me smile. Thank you for causing me to think with more common sense instead of along the line of 'old wives' tales. 🙂

Hi Robin,
I just wanted you to know I have really been enjoying your blog. I’ve gained about 10 lbs after going off a medication that kept me quite slim and suppressed my appetite. I’ve had a real struggle with the tight pants and changing body. No one else can notice but I do and it has been getting me down. I started restricting calories and counting everything and working out more and I just am not losing the weight. I’ve been miserable while doing this for about 3 months and since I am not overweight at all, I’m trying to just be more relaxed with food and accept this new body. I read your post about gaining 10 lbs and it really helped me a lot. I need to just accept my body and what it can do–since working out more I’ve gotten a lot stronger and that makes me proud–rather than trying to starve it. I am always ignoring how hungry I am…which I know isn’t a good thing and your writings about hunger really made me think. Anyway just wanted you to know your message is making a difference!

Thank you so much for sharing Shae! Often, eating less and exercising more can be the exact opposite of what our bodies actually need. Move because it feels good and eat foods that make you feel good. Get rest and do things that help you take care of yourself- my favorite is a mani/pedi! 🙂 Thank you so much for reading the blog and know that your own story is going to inspire many women! xoxo
